MCRT2 met at Julia's Banquet Center in East Alton, IL on October 9, 2012.
Approximately 55 members attended. President Ann Jacox called the meeting to order at 11:00 a.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was given. The minutes of the June 5, 2012, were approved as printed in the Tidings with two corrections: *February 23, 2012* to *March 13, 2012* and *June 12, 2012* to *June 9, 2012.* Co-Treasurer Joyce Tappy gave the Treasurer*s Report. It was approved as printed and will be filed for audit.

Communications: Charlotte Heeren/Joyce Tappy-Everything is fine.
Foundations/Information: Linda Brazier had all kinds of forms and information about IRTA on a table. Members could pick up what forms they needed. There is a young couple running a computer specialist business in Bethalto. They will answer your questions about computers. Their phone number is 618-377-0577. The IRTA website has been changed. It has a lot of information about IRTA and its benefits. Please use VOTER*S VOICE. Less than half of the members use it. Collect Vacations, Glen Carbon Chamber of Commerce will be having an overview of their trips on November 9, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. IRTA website has a link to Collect Vacations. IRTA Foundation had given the scholarships of $1500.00 each for Area 6 to Sarah Norris, Dorsey, IL and Caitlin Siler, Equality, IL. Linda Brazier reported that AAA members can get a free credit check with results sent each month. IRTA Defense Fund has collected $30,000.00. There are 34,308 members but 26,000 more teachers could join.
Membership/Health: Lori Uhe reported that the health
insurance is good until June 30, 2013. Our unit has added 20 to 25 new members. Mary May thanked everyone for getting their reservations in.

Program: Donnie Calvin/Jodi Henderson-The Christmas Program will be on December 4, 2012 at the N.O. Nelson Complex in Edwardsville. The buffet will be catered by Bella Milano. Program will be Christmas stories by Mary Lu Bresch, a retired librarian from Belleville and musical numbers by vocalist Kimberly Westcoff from Collinsville.
Jodi Henderson had gotten school supplies for table decorations for the October meeting. These items were donated to the Glen Carbon Pantry.
Retirement Education/Activities: Walter Ahlemeyer reported that the wine tour had been cancelled.
Member Benefits/Activities: Lucille Stevenson stated that members should ask for senior discounts at businesses. Mary Herndon won the free lunch. Lucille Stevenson won the 50/50. Four IEA/NEA Retired 2013 monthly planners were given to the following members: Sharon Jenkins, Anita Runge, Dee Hordesky and Joan L. Gusewelle.
New Business: Jeff Campbell, SWIC Rep talked about Southwestern free vocational classes at the following campuses: Belleville Campus, Sam Wold Granite City Campus, East St. Louis Community College Center and Red Bud Campus. For more information call Jeff Campbell at 618-235-2700. ext. 5104.
